Funeral held for deputy killed in sinkhole accident

Burial takes place Saturday

SAN ANTONIO – A funeral was held Friday night at the Sendero Assembly of God for Bexar County Deputy Dora Nishihara, who died Sunday night when her car fell into a sinkhole on Quintana Road.

Funeral attendees filled the lower sections of the sanctuary. Colleagues, family and friends, including a Pearl Harbor veteran, paid tribute to a woman who spent decades in law enforcement in several capacities.

Nishihara’s years of service weren't overshadowed by the life she lived and the lives she touched in her 68 years.

Sheriff Susan Pamerleau joined those in at Friday night’s service.

The visitation ended at 9 p.m. Friday. A private service will be held for the family Saturday morning, followed by her burial at San Jose Burial Park.
