Hundreds came out to attend the funeral services held for Robert Cameron Redus.

Redus, 23, was a University of Incarnate word honor student when he was shot and killed by a campus police officer.

Tears and prayers filled the church as family and friends said their final goodbyes.

"You know, it's a sad time, but it's an opportunity to communicate the vibrant life that he had. The faith that he had and how all that comes together," said close family friend Mark Hall.

One by one, loved ones took turns reminiscing with stories of Redus' early childhood.

According to Hall, the outpouring of love and support is what's helped the family through these tough times.

"They knew what the raised as a young man and the values they have instilled but now they are getting the impact that he had on the community at incarnate word," Hall said.

Redus will be cremated. His family say they will try to move forward as the investigation into his death looms.
