Geronimo Village volunteers will host barbecue to support injured firefighter

Proceeds will help Brad Phipp's family

SAN ANTONIO – Volunteers in Geronimo Village are putting together a large barbecue to benefit a firefighter hurt in the Ingram Square fire.

The Sunday event will raise money for firefighter Brad Phipps.

There will be brisket, sausage, potato salad and beans. Plates will be $10 each. There will also soft drinks and desserts for $1.

Event coordinators said they will have a silent auction and raffles. That money will go on to help the Phipps family.

“Anything we can do to help the family, that's what we're here for,” event coordinator Ken Lemanski said.

The event, which has been in the works for weeks, will be happening at the Geronimo Village Hall on Talley Road from noon to 6 p.m. Sunday.
