Ground broken for Redland Road project

$11.1 million project expected to be finished in 2017

SAN ANTONIO – City officials broke ground Tuesday for improvements on Redland Road.

Improvements include the reconstruction and widening of Redland Road to four lanes with new bicycle lanes and sidewalks along the road from Loop 1604 to Jones Maltsberger Road.

Other improvements include upgrades to the low-water crossing on Jones Maltsberger Road at Elm Creek and upgrades to area traffic signals.

"When voters approved the 2012 bond, they told us what was important," District 10 Councilman Mike Gallagher said. "I'm pleased to be able to deliver these much needed improvements in District 10. This project will have such a positive impact on residents by helping reduce travel time in our rapidly growing community."

The project is estimated to cost $11.1 million and is scheduled to be completed in 2017.
