Guadalupe County deputies cleared of wrongdoing in teen's death
Deputies shot, killed Jonas Alonzo last month
Two Guadalupe County sheriff's deputies have been cleared of wrongdoing in the shooting death of a 16-year-old boy.
The shooting happened on June 28 in the 2700 block of FM 1044 in Marion.
Deputies responded to a report of a suicidal male and said they found Jonas Alonzo sitting in a driveway, holding a knife.
According to the District Attorney, Alonzo refused to drop the weapon and threatened the deputies, and told them to shoot him.
The deputies said Alonzo lunged toward them with the knife and they opened fire.
Alonzo was taken to a New Braunfels hospital where he was later pronounced dead.
The sheriff's deputies involved in the shooting were placed on administrative duty, but have been cleared by the District Attorney and grand jury. Their names have not been released.
KSAT has requested video and audio recordings of the incident.
