SAN ANTONIO -

Saturday marked the halfway point of the 14-week HEB Slim Down Showdown contest.

All 30 contestants returned to San Antonio this weekend to renew their commitment and measure their progress.

The contestants participated in yoga and workouts at La Cantera Hill Country Resort with trainers from Gold's Gym.

“At midpoint, our contestants get an opportunity to reconnect with folks they met at the beginning of the competition to compare progress, swap stories and encourage each other,” said Kate Rogers, HEB’s Vice President of Communication and Engagement. “They also get to see how much their health can improve in just a few short weeks and that really motivates them to continue.”

The contestants are made up of customers and HEB employees from around Texas. They are competing for a chance to win a $10,000 grand prize or a $5,000 "hero" prize.

The competition started in January when the contestants came to San Antonio to participate in a wellness program. They then returned home where they received weekly coaching.

The winner will be announced in April.

Since the Slim Down Showdown started in 2010, contestants have lost 60,000 pounds.
