SAN ANTONIO -

A crash involving a wrong-way driver on Highway 281 reduced traffic to one lane Wednesday afternoon.

It happened just after 3:40 p.m. in the southbound lanes of the highway near the Hildebrand Avenue exit.

A Texas Department of Public Safety spokesman said troopers were following the driver that allegedly caused the accident, and when the troopers tried to stop the driver, he took off and eventually started heading northbound in the southbound lanes.

The driver hit two vehicles bringing traffic to a halt.

The driver tried to flee on foot, but two people managed to stop him.

The spokesman said the driver was arrested and will face a number of charges, including evading arrest.
