SAN ANTONIO -

Police say a homeless man was stabbed at least six times during an attack early Friday morning.

The stabbing happened just before 1:30 a.m. in the 4600 block of Rittiman Road. 

Officers say it started during an altercation at a homeless camp.

Police said the victim's throat was slashed and he was also stabbed six times in the chest.

After the attack, the man staggered to a nearby parking lot and collapsed.

He was taken to the hospital in critical condition. The suspected attacker was arrested after being found covered in blood, San Antonio police said.
