Smith County fire officials said no one was inside at the time of the fire, but it is considered to be suspicious in nature.

KLTV reported that the home might have been burglarized before the fire, but that had not been confirmed by authorities.

Multiple fire departments responded to the fire on Lake Tyler just before 1:30 a.m.

The two-story house was engulfed in flames upon their arrival and collapsed around 2 a.m.

Records show that the home was built in 1975 and was worth more than $400,000.

Arson investigators from the state fire marshal's office have been called to assist with the investigation.
