The Hunt Independent School District board voted Thursday to allow teachers and staff to carry guns at school.
The measure, which passed with a 4-3 vote, allows certain district employees to carry concealed handguns on campus. Teachers would have the option to arm themselves.
District officials said they would work with local law enforcement to train those who plan to carry a gun on campus.
Staff who decide to carry a gun must hold a concealed handgun license and be approved by the board.
