Highway 281 reopens after deadly pedestrian crash

Man killed had jumped between NB, SB lanes

SAN ANTONIO – Highway 281 south just before Jones Maltsberger has reopened following the investigation into the death of man who was hit by a pickup truck Friday morning.

Police shut down the highway around 5 a.m. along with the connecting ramps from Loop 410 in order to complete their work.

Police said the man had jumped between the barrier of the northbound and southbound lanes right before being hit. 

Both the reason the man was on the highway and name of the man killed are not presently known. 

The investigation is ongoing.

The backup of traffic stretched for several miles. Traffic was slowed in multiple directions as a result of the accident.
