Inmate found dead of apparent suicide in Bexar County Jail, officials say

4th death to occur in jail during month of July

SAN ANTONIO – The Bexar County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the death of an inmate, officials said Friday.

Bexar County Sheriff's Office spokesperson James Keith said the 41-year-old man died of an apparent suicide shortly before 7:30 a.m.

Keith said the inmate was booked into the Bexar County Adult Detention Center in September 2013 on charges of aggravated assault against a public servant, assault bodily injury, parole violation, felony possession of a firearm, possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance.

The death is the fourth to occur in a jail during the month of July.

The Bexar County Medical Examiner's Office will release the name of the man once family notification has been made.

Keith said there were no signs of foul play.

Bexar County Sheriff Pamerleau is holding a press conference later today.
