Prosecutors said Torres and his brother, David Alexander Zuniga, killed Richards after he got of a bus in the 400 block of Porter Street.

Officers believe the two men were planning to rob the war veteran when he was shot. The murder weapon was never recovered.

Zuniga and another brother testified that Torres was the one who pulled the trigger.

Zuniga was sentenced to life in prison for his part in the crime in January.
