SAN ANTONIO -

A China Grove City Council meeting took an abrupt turn Wednesday night when five city employees suddenly resigned from their positions.

The city attorney, a municipal judge and three city staffers including the city administrator turned in their resignations amid allegations some city council members created a hostile work environment.

The special meeting was called in part to canvass the results of the recent election, where longtime Mayor Dennis Dunk lost a heated battle to Eugene Ripps, but not all city council members were in attendance.

Several residents also voiced their displeasure with members of the city council during the meeting.
