The Monday morning commute took a somber tone for listeners of Mix 96.1's "Kidd Kraddick in the Morning" show.

Kraddick, 53, died suddenly on Saturday while at a charity golf tournament near New Orleans for his Kidd's Kids organization.

On Monday, the morning show went on as scheduled.

It was tribute show mixed with laughter and tears, led by co-hosts Kellie, Big Al, J-Si and Jenna, as they remembered their friend and colleague.

A co-worker named Shannon was in tears as she paid tribute to Kraddick on air.

"Kidd has been in my life as long as I can remember. I was fortunate to come and work for him for 14 years," she said.

The "Kidd Kraddick in the Morning" show is recorded in Dallas, and syndicated in more than 75 markets.

"I usually listen in mornings on my way to work," said local fan Michelle Serna. "The way he did his show, I really loved it."

Clear Channel Communications in San Antonio couldn't comment on Kraddick's death due to corporate rules, but during his radio show, DJ Chase Murphy talked about Kraddick being a mentor to him.

"Gracious when you don't have to be. Give back when others don't.  That was the kind of guy Kidd Kraddick was," he said.

On air, Kraddick's co-hosts said they don't know what the future holds for them or the show.

Local listener Margie Sosa said she hopes the show continues.

"I hope they keep it going with other hosts," she said, "I mean, they were a good team together, so we'll see what happens."

On-air, the co-hosts of  the show said they plan to take the rest of the week off to mourn.

However, it's still not clear when or if the show will return.
