SAN ANTONIO -

A man is in the hospital after being stabbed by two men on the city's East Side.

It happened around 12 a.m. Tuesday in the 1300 block of East Carson.

“The police were out here. They blocked off the street right here,” said neighbor David Gonzalez.

According to police, the victim was walking down the street when two men approached him and started arguing with him.

During the argument, one of the suspects pulled out a knife and stabbed the man in the back, investigators said.

While the victim was on the ground, the suspects proceeded to rob him and then fled the scene.

"Poor guy," said Gonzalez. "$50 -- that's what I heard this morning. That's all he had in his wallet."

Gonzalez said he was feeding his neighbor's chickens when he discovered what he believed to be the knife used in the stabbing.

"I put it in a Ziploc bag because I don't want my prints on it. I put it (in there) with a stick,” said Gonzalez.

SAPD’s crime scene unit was called out and they recovered the knife. They will now determine if it was the weapon used.

The victim managed to walk to the 400 block of Calhoun to get help. He was taken to San Antonio Military Medical Center in critical condition.
