KSAT Community partnered with the American Diabetes Association Expo Saturday to help San Antonians fight diabetes.
The event was held Saturday at the Henry B. Gonzalez Convention Center in San Antonio.
With 14 percent of San Antonians diabetic, it has become a top local priority to help people manage their symptoms, as well as find out if they are at risk of developing the disease.
Laura Miller drove from Fort Worth to attend the expo.
"This is our second year to come to the diabetes expo and I was diagnosed 25 months ago ... I have maintained every bit of my diabetes through diet and exercise. I've actually lost almost 70 pounds," said Miller.
Attendees gathered information on treatment and received free health screenings. The expo also provided healthy-cooking demonstrations.
