A La Vernia insurance agent accused of stealing money from her clients and the town's chamber of commerce has been indicted by a Wilson County Grand Jury.
Patsy Ritchey was arrested Tuesday in Nacogdoches County on two warrants from Wilson County.
Ritchey is the former treasurer of the Greater La Vernia Chamber of Commerce. Ritchey also ran a Farmer's Insurance Agency in La Vernia.
The grand jury indicted Ritchey on two counts of theft on July 12.
The first indictment alleges Ritchey stole more than $20,000, but less than $100,000 from the greater chamber and deposited the money into her business account.
The second indictment charges Ritchey with theft of property worth more than $1,500, but less than $20,000.
Ritchey posted bond and was released from the Nacogdoches County Jail on Wednesday. She is due in court for an arraignment hearing on Aug. 6.
Several of Ritchey's former insurance clients are working with Farmer's Insurance to recover the money she allegedly stole from their accounts.
