Police arrested a man Tuesday after finding a thumb drive that contained pictures and videos depicting child pornography.

An arrest warrant was issued for 51-year-old Guillermo Couvier Lugo in late 2013 after an investigation began into allegations that he committed sexual assault of a child, indecency with a child by contact and possession of child pornography.

Members of the Lone Star Fugitive Task Force began an investigation in the search for Lugo on Dec. 30.

Reports were made in early 2013 that a thumb drive that had been lost at a local university was found to have child pornography on it. Officials said Lugo contacted the campus looking for a thumb drive he had lost. The drive was turned over to SAPD detectives and a warrant was issued for Lugo's arrest.

According to the Department of Justice, through the investigation and extensive surveillance officials discovered that Lugo was in Corpus Christi.

Task force officers entered the apartment where Lugo was located, identified themselves and made contact with Lugo, who was taken into custody without incident.

“As these sexual predators continue to exploit and prey on these innocent children, our task force officers will continue to track them down and put an end to their atrocious behavior,” said Robert R. Almonte, of the United States Marshal Service, Western District of Texas.

Lugo will be held at the Nueces County Jail until he is extradited to Bexar County.
