Louis Jaramillo accused of burning skin off 4-year-old boy's foot with hot water

Louis Jaramillo, 25, charged with injury to child

SAN ANTONIO – A 4-year-old boy suffered severe burns on his foot when he allegedly was forced by Louis Jaramillo, 25, to stand in extremely hot bath water, San Antonio police said.

The arrest warrant affidavit stated that the incident happened October 15, but the boy was not treated by a medical professional until eight days later.

His mother told police she tried to treat the burns at home, but called EMS when she noticed signs of infection, the affidavit stated.

The boy still is unable to walk on the foot due to numerous surgeries and skin grafts, the affidavit said.

The boy's mother told detectives Jaramillo, who is her boyfriend, was disciplining the child, first by spanking him.

Later, she said, Jaramillo took the boy into the bathroom, and she heard the child screaming that the water was too hot, the affidavit stated.

The woman told detectives that after they came out of the bathroom, she noticed the skin was burned off her son's foot and ankle, the affidavit stated. Jaramillo was arrested Monday on a charge of injury to a child.
