SAN ANTONIO – Officials at MacArthur High School said three students took things too far when they sawed the legs off the school mascot earlier this week.

Northeast Independent School District spokeswoman Aubrey Chancellor said administrators noticed the damage Tuesday morning.

The school's mascot, a Brahma bull that stands in the school courtyard, was sawed off at the legs and moved to the softball field.

Surveillance video showed three students take the bull and try to put it in car, but it was too big. Instead, they moved it to the field.

"It was meant to be a senior prank, but it really did go too far. The bull is damaged. It needs to be repaired now, and it's going to cost between $500 and $1,000," Chancellor said. "Jokes are jokes, but this certainly went too far."

A student came forward after the principal offered a $100 reward.

The three boys involved are now facing disciplinary action at school and will be charged with criminal mischief.
