SAN ANTONIO -

A 27-year-old man is accused of stealing air conditioners from a west San Antonio apartment complex, and police credit a maintenance worker for helping them catch him.

Miguel Jacobo was arrested Tuesday in connection with the theft which happened April 9.

A maintenance worker at the Marbach Park Apartments told police he saw a pickup with two men inside drive onto the property, then leave a short time later with five Goodman brand A/C units in the bed of the truck, an arrest warrant affidavit stated.

The worker was able to write down a partial license plate number which police used to track down the truck owner, the affidavit stated. The truck owner, however, denied any involvement in the theft.

The affidavit stated that he told detectives a man named “Miguel” had asked him for a ride and told him he had permission to take the A/C units and sell them for scrap metal.

Police said they showed a mug shot of Jacobo to the truck owner, and he identified him as the person who stole the A/C units, the affidavit stated.

It does not appear that the owner of the truck has been arrested at this time.
