A 20-year-old man is accused of pawning tools stolen from the Northside Independent School District at a pawn shop down the street from his Northwest Side job.
John Elizondo, 20, was arrested Monday at an auto repair business on DeZavala Road, an arrest warrant affidavit stated.
Investigators with the Northside ISD Police Department said they found records showing he sold some tools that were stolen from the school district's maintenance department to a pawn shop also on DeZavala Road, the affidavit stated.
They said they found those records using a site called "Leads Online." The database keeps track of items sold at pawnshops, and is used by many local law enforcement officers to investigate crimes, including burglaries and thefts.
NISD police said they also recovered the stolen tools, some of which were engraved with the letters "NISD," from the pawnshop.
Elizondo is charged with making a false statement to obtain property or credit.
