A 32-year-old man has been arrested in connection with a case involving thousands of dollars worth of forged checks.
James Hunt was taken into custody Wednesday on a charge of forgery.
An arrest affidavit stated that a woman notified Alamo Heights police in December that someone had cashed 16 unauthorized checks, totaling more than $36,000, against her account.
Police investigated and said they discovered that a check that the woman had mailed had been scanned and used to make others, the affidavit stated.
The duplicates were then filled out and cashed at various locations, the affidavit stated.
Police said Hunt was one of several people who cashed the checks, using his own identification card, the affidavit stated.
