SAN ANTONIO -

The U.S. Marshals Service Lone Star Fugitive Task Force arrested a man Tuesday on charges of possession with the intent to distribute LSD and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.

According to a statement issued by the task force, Christopher Cottrell, 24, was initially detained on June 15 by a San Antonio police officer for allegedly committing a traffic violation.

During a search of Cottrell's vehicle, the officer found a backpack containing a "large amount" of LSD and .32-caliber handgun. Both Cottrell and another man were arrested, but later released on bond.

A warrant was issued for Cottrell's arrest to face pending charges.

On Aug. 13, task force members were able to track Cottrell down to a CVS Pharmacy near Old Pearsall Road and 5 Palms Drive.

Task force members arrested Cottrell there without incident. He was found to be in possession of a 9mm semi-automatic handgun and will face additional charges for that.

Two other people were with Cottrell on Tuesday. One of those people were also arrested on charges of hindering the apprehension of a fugitive and possession of marijuana. That person has not been identified.

Cottrell is currently being held in custody at the Bexar County Jail.
