A 32-year-old man identified as George Garcia has been arrested in connection with the theft of his neighbor's doors.

The neighbor contacted police Sept. 16 and reported that someone had taken nine interior doors from her northwest side home, valued at $700, without her permission.

An arrest warrant affidavit stated that a witness contacted detectives the following day, saying that Garcia was the person seen running from the home.

Detectives, in turn, spoke with Garcia who confessed to stealing the doors because he needed money to pay bills, the affidavit stated.

Garcia has a history of theft arrests, the affidavit stated. Police arrested him immediately in connection with several outstanding warrants.

Although he was taken into custody in September, a charge of enhanced theft was filed against Garcia Thursday.
