Man catches 1,033-pound hammerhead shark

30-year-old state record broken at Texas City fishing tournament

TEXAS CITY, Texas – A man won first place after catching a massive 1,033-pound hammerhead shark in a fishing tournament in Texas City.

Tim McClellem broke a 30-year state record with the monster catch.

Texas City Jaycees posted the record-setting catch on their Facebook page:

“Winning 1st place and smashing a 30yr State of Texas record Mr. Tim McClellen brought in this HUGE 1033lb Hammer Head Shark!

“Thank you to all of the fishermen that participated in the tournament and all of our amazing sponsors and volunteers for helping us continue a Texas City Tradition!”

The massive catch came days after a fisherman competing in the same tournament caught a 964-pound shark.

It took three hours and multiple people to reel in the monster shark.
