Man caught on camera stealing golf carts from UTSA, police say

Online ad led police to Royce Peters, 23

SAN ANTONIO – Royce Peters, 23, is believed to be linked to the thefts of several golf carts from the campus of the University of Texas San Antonio.

He was arrested Tuesday on two counts of theft stemming from crimes late last year.

According to an arrest warrant affidavit, UTSA police had been investigating the thefts of several golf carts from the campus and obtained surveillance video of the crimes in action.

The affidavit said that during their investigation, they found an online ad from a man who was selling a number of golf carts, including some that looked like the ones stolen from campus.

Police said they later determined that Peters was the man behind the ad and went to talk to him at his parents' home in La Coste.

The affdiavit said that during questioning, Peters admitted to buying and selling golf carts but denied stealing them.

Police, however, said they identified Peters as the man who was caught on camera stealing the golf carts.
