SAN ANTONIO -

Northwest Side resident David Crandall, 51, is believed to be the person behind thefts from as many as 25 units at a north San Antonio storage facility.

An arrest warrant affidavit stated that San Antonio police detectives went to Crandall's home in December to search for evidence in the theft of some drum equipment from a storage unit at a facility in the 300 block of E. Nakoma Street.

The affidavit stated that while police were searching his home, they found the drum equipment as well as other property which they later learned was stolen.

Among the items was more than $30,000 worth of remote-controlled helicopters and toys, the affidavit stated.

Police said Crandall at first told them the toys belonged to him, but later confessed they were stolen.

The affidavit stated that detectives found out that 25 units in all at that storage facility had been burglarized by someone who cut the locks off the doors.

Crandall was arrested Tuesday on a charge of theft.
