Man dies in police custody following Tasing

Man pulls out probes after Tasing

SAN ANTONIO

A man in his 30s died on the city's North Side while in police custody Sunday morning.

Officers were called to the 4800 block of Legend Well around 2 a.m. for a report of a family disturbance.

"As officers arrived, they found an individual that was under the influence of some type of narcotic," San Antonio police Chief Anthony Trevino said.

The man refused to leave the home and put up a struggle when officers attempted to escort him out, police said.

The man became aggressive and an officer used his Taser on him.

"The individual came towards the officers. One of them deployed his Taser," Trevino said. "The individual removed the probes and a second officer deployed his Taser."

Shortly after the second Taser was deployed, police said the man became unresponsive. EMS was called, but the man was pronounced dead at the scene.

The two officers were placed on administrative duty pending the outcome of the investigation.
