Man gunned down at mobile home park

Suspect sought in shooting at North Side mobile home park

SAN ANTONIO – A shooting at a North Side mobile home park left a man dead late Monday night, San Antonio police said.

SAPD officials said shots were reported around 10:15 p.m. at the San Pedro North Mobile Home Park in the 16200 block of U.S. Highway 281 North.

According to preliminary information by SAPD, the victim and his girlfriend were driving though the trailer park and the victim got into an argument with the suspect.

The victim's girlfriend left and soon after, the suspect pulled out a gun and shot the victim several times.

"I heard five gunshots, so I opened the door, and I saw an SUV headed that way," said Joe Toker, who lives in a nearby home. "I went outside to check my home and my truck (to) see if it was shot up. I thought it was  a drive-by shooting. I don't know what it was."

The victim attempted to drive down the street, but died from his gunshot wounds.

Officers arrived and found the victim inside the car. They said a window had been shattered during the shooting. The suspect fled on foot and remained at large as of 8 a.m. Tuesday.

"(It's) scary. I mean, it's just me and my husband who live here," said Pat Benson, whose son lives in another mobile home in the park.

She said he heard the shots and talked to police following the shooting.

"He said they asked him, 'Did you get the license plate number?' My son said, 'I told them, I wasn't gonna stick my head out the window.'"

The shooting remains under investigation and police did not say whether the suspect was riding in the car or met the victim at the trailer park.

Friends of the victim's girlfriend said she and her boyfriend both knew the shooter. The victim's name was not immediately released.
