Man hit by train on near East Side

Victim taken to SAMMC

SAN ANTONIO – A man was hit by a train Monday night.

The collision occurred in the 400 block of Nolan Street, just east of downtown.

When San Antonio police officers and firefighters arrived they found the victim had suffered head injuries.

Police said two men were walking near the tracks when the train operator saw them.

The operator did not stop because he thought the men were far enough away from the tracks.

A representative from Union Pacific also responded to the accident and was trying to determine what happened.

The area is frequented by homeless people but officer could not say if the victim was homeless.

He was taken to San Antonio Military Medical Center for treatment, his condition was not released.
