Man hit killed in hit-and-run ID'd

Ralph Carpenter, 50, struck by semi cab

SAN ANTONIO – A pedestrian who was struck by the cab of a semi-truck on the Southwest Side and died at a hospital late Monday night has been identified.

According to the Bexar County Medical Examiner's Office, the pedestrian was Ralph Carpenter, 50.

San Antonio police said the hit-and-run happened along SW Loop 410 near Highway 90.

Carpenter was walking in the median when he was struck by the semi cab. The driver did not stop.

Carpenter was taken to University Hospital in critical condition, and was later pronounced dead.

If caught, the driver would face a charge of failure to stop and render aid.
