Man injured during gaming room robbery

BEXAR COUNTY, Texas – Bexar County sheriff’s investigators interviewed several victims after a robbery at a gaming room near the Bexar-Atascosa County line late Friday afternoon. Deputies received a 911 call from a separate location about the robbery in a back building of a property in the 4300 block of Kings Lane off Highway 16 South.

“There's four patrons, at least four patrons inside the establishment when it happened, and a clerk or one of the workers that was robbed,” said Sgt Jason Layman of the sheriff’s department. “We don't know how much money was taken and right now the investigator is looking into all of that stuff.”

One man, reportedly 49-years-old, was hit over the head with an unidentified weapon used in the robbery. He was treated at the scene for minor injuries. Investigators believe they are looking for just one person. The legality of the gaming room was also expected to be investigated along with the robbery.

Officials said it was too early to say if this robbery is related to a robbery of another gaming parlor on Jan. 27 in the 2700 block of Oak Island. A 36-year-old man was shot and killed in that robbery.
