Man killed after threatening to shoot ex-wife with BB gun, police say

No charges filed against relative who shot man

SAN ANTONIO – A man who was shot and killed Thursday night after threatening his ex-wife was armed with a BB gun, San Antonio police said.

Officers responded shortly before 9 p.m. to a call about a family disturbance in the 200 block of West High Avenue and learned that the incident had turned deadly.

According to a preliminary police report, officers found the 43-year-old man dead in a bedroom of the home. They said witnesses told them that he had broken in through a back window after threatening his ex-wife outside.

Witnesses told them that at some point during the argument, the man pulled out what appeared to be a gun.

The woman ran back into the home and told a 48-year-old relative, who shot and killed the ex-husband when he broke into the home, police said.

Investigators later found a weapon in the waistband of the man who was killed. Police said the weapon turned out to be a BB gun.

Police said they do not expect the shooter to face any charges.
