SAN ANTONIO -

A pedestrian was killed after he was struck by a black pickup truck on the East Side early Monday morning.

The accident occurred just after midnight on Interstate 10 near Foster Road.

Witnesses told San Antonio police the pedestrian darted out into the main lanes of the interstate for an unknown reason and was struck by a truck, possibly a Ford F-150, headed east.

The man's friends said he had been hanging out at a bar, but decided to walk home after getting into an argument.

Witnesses told police the driver stopped momentarily, but then fled the scene.

Witnesses said the incident happened so fast that they were unable to give police a complete description of the vehicle.

The pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene, police said.

The medical examiner's office was unable to identify the victim at first due to the severe trauma.
