SAN ANTONIO -

A man tried to stop a suspected car thief and took a bullet in the process.

The shooting happened outside a motel at Roosevelt and Southcross just before 7 a.m. Saturday.

Police say the man noticed someone trying to break into his vehicle and confronted the suspect.

They say that suspected thief then pulled a gun and fired.

The man suffered a gunshot to the leg.

Police say he managed to walk to a relative's house in the 600 block of VFW Blvd. and that's where EMS picked him up.

Police did detain four possible suspects, but say the investigation is ongoing.
