Man shot in neck outside apartments on Westward Drive dies

Victim Daniel Gonzales taken to University Hospital in critical condition, shooter at-large

SAN ANTONIO – A man who was critically injured after he was shot outside an apartment complex in the 2500 block of Westward Drive around 8 p.m. Sunday has died, police said.

San Antonio police say the victim, 29-year-old Daniel Gonzales, was visiting family members at the complex, and was talking outside.

Witnesses tell police a dark-colored SUV pulled up to the group and words were exchanged.

The driver got out of the SUV and shot Gonzales in the back of the neck, witnesses told SAPD.

The shooter, identified only as a white male between the ages of 20 and 25, fled the scene..

Police have not announced a motive for the shooting.
