San Antonio police arrested a man late Tuesday morning in connection with a fatal shooting on the city's East Side. Police took the man, 36, into custody after he barricaded himself inside an apartment at the intersection of Canton and Gevers.
A SWAT team got the man to surrender peacefully, police said. The man is considered to be the triggerman in a shooting that left another man dead at an apartment complex in the 2300 block of East Houston Street. The victim's body was found around 5:40 a.m. Tuesday, police said.
Police said after the arrest, officers shot and killed a dog that they said was vicious and aggressive.

San Antonio police are investigating after a man was found dead of an apparent gunshot wound outside the door of an apartment complex on the city's East Side.
The shooting was reported around 5:40 a.m. in the 2300 block of East Houston Street, found not far from North Gevers Street.
Police said when they arrived on scene they found the man, said to be in his 40s, dead on the ground with a gunshot wound to the head. A small sedan with a flat tire was found near the scene as well police said, suggesting that the shooting may have occurred there. Police said they now think the vehicle may have been the victim's.
At this time there are no suspects or witnesses, police said.
The name of the victim is not presently known.
SAPD did say that the apartment complex has cameras outside the building which may assist in the investigation.
