Man shot, suspect arrested in NW Side shooting

Eric Toney, 44, is charged with aggravated assault with deadly weapon

SAN ANTONIO – One person is in the hospital in serious condition and another has been taken into custody by San Antonio police following a shooting overnight.

The shooting was reported just before 11 p.m. Thursday at the Candlewood Suites motel in the 9300 block of Interstate 10 West near Frontage Road and Medical Drive.

Police said an argument occurred and that's when Eric Toney, 44, allegedly pulled out a gun and shot the victim in the chest. 

When officers arrived witnesses told police that Toney was attempting leave in a white Ford F-250 pickup truck.

Toney was arrested by police without incident and the weapon used was recovered at the scene.

The victim was taken to University Hospital where he was last listed in stable but serious condition.

Toney is charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and felon in possession of a firearm.

The investigation is ongoing.
