SAN ANTONIO -

A man was stabbed to death on the West Side Monday evening and San Antonio police are searching for the suspect.

Officers responded to the fatal stabbing just before 8 p.m. at the corner of West Poplar and North Hamilton.

Paramedics found the man on the ground and were unable to revive him.

On Tuesday morning, he was identified as 22-year-old Juan Carlos Fraire.

Investigators said Fraire and some friends were outside their home, drinking. Witnesses told police Fraire and another woman left to go to the store and was confronted by the suspect, who accused Fraire of being a "snitch."

The woman told police Fraire and the man began fighting and that's when Fraire was stabbed.

Witnesses told police a man between the ages of 30 and 39 fled on foot after the stabbing. He is described as being a black male with dreadlocks, about 5 feet 9 inches tall and weighing about 240 pounds. He was wearing a black short-sleeved shirt and black pants.

As of noon on Tuesday, police had not announced an arrest in connection with the stabbing.
