SAN ANTONIO -

A man is wanted for his involvement in a laptop robbery. Police are asking for the public’s help in identifying the suspect and his getaway vehicle.

It happened on Wednesday at the Motel 8 near the intersection of San Pedro and Braniff.

Police say the suspect and the victim met up to discuss a laptop the victim was selling on Craigslist.

But the suspect, seen on surveillance footage wearing a blue shirt and red hat, never had any intention of paying for the laptop.

The suspect asked to take a look at the laptop and then took off on foot. The victim and a friend took off after him but were unable to stop him from getting away.

San Antonio police spokesman Officer Roger Zuniga said, “A lot of transactions go on (via Craigslist) without any issues, but there are people who are seeking to defraud (you and) try to steal your property so just be careful out there. Use common sense. (Meet in) a well-traveled area where there a lot of people around.”

Police are offering a $5,000 reward for anyone with information on the robbery. You can call their Crime Stoppers hotline at 224-STOP.
