SAN ANTONIO -

A pair of robbers targeted a Northeast Side gas station employee as he was arriving for work Wednesday morning.

San Antonio police said the worker had just put his key inside the lock on the front door at a Valero Corner Store at around 5 a.m., when a man and woman -- both with their faces covered -- approached him.

One of the robbers was holding a handgun, and both followed the worker into the business in the 1500 block of Austin Highway, police said.

Investigators said the two criminals then took whatever money was in the cash register and ran away.

Officers at the scene said the robbers used scarves to cover their faces. One of the suspects was wearing camouflage pants and a hoodie and the other person wore a wool cap.

Anyone with information about the crime is asked to call the San Antonio Police Department.
