Medical emergency blamed for series of crashes

2 pedestrians hit

SAN ANTONIO – San Antonio police said a man had a medical episode while driving, causing a trail of destruction on the city's East Side.

The emergency happened about 10 p.m. Friday. While the man was not in control of his truck, it jumped a curb, hit a parked car, a telephone pole and two people who were walking, police said.

The two pedestrians were taken to hospitals and are expected to recover.

Trouble for the driver continued as his truck hit another parked car, then finally stopped when it crashed into a ditch across South Hackberry Street, police said.

The driver was taken to University Hospital.
