Medical examiner releases name of man killed by SA Park Police officer

SAN ANTONIO – The Bexar County medical examiner released the name of the man killed by a San Antonio Park Police officer Thursday night.

Raymond Valdez, 55, was shot and killed after he pulled a knife out near Zarzamora Street and West Houston Street, police said.

Officers said Valdez was assaulting his girlfriend and someone called police. An officer tried to subdue him with a stun gun, but that didn’t stop the man, police said.

The officer who fired the deadly shots has been placed on administrative leave pending the outcome of the investigation into the shooting.
