Mission Thanksgiving is looking for families to host soldiers who are away from home this holiday season.

According to the Army Medical Department Center and School, more than 5,000 students who are attending medical training will be away from home this Thanksgiving. Many will volunteer to spend the day with local families to learn more about San Antonio customs and culture.

People who are interested in hosting two soldiers at their homes for Thanksgiving dinner on Nov. 28 may contact the Mission Thanksgiving call center at (210) 221-3218. Lines are open from 8 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. and from 1 to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday.
