Mom who allegedly ripped, glued son's genitals due in court Monday
FBI: Jennifer Marie Vargas, 34, lashed out against 6-year-old son in anger
Jennifer Marie Vargas, the 34-year-old mother accused of yanking and ripping her son’s genitals, then trying to glue his skin back together, will remain behind bars at least until next week.
Vargas is set to undergo a detention hearing in U. S. District Court Monday morning, according to Daryl Fields, a spokesman for the U. S. Attorney’s Office-Western District of Texas.
A federal affidavit details the horrors of the case against her.
It stated that Vargas lashed out in anger Sept. 27, grabbing her 6-year-old son’s genitals and “pulling him to her as hard as she could.”
The boy suffered bruises and torn skin in that region, according to the affidavit.
Vargas, however, did not seek medical treatment, but instead tried to “fix” her son’s injuries on her own, the affidavit stated.
Investigators said she told them she used alcohol to clean the wound, and super glue to seal it up and stop the bleeding, the affidavit stated.
She then stuffed paper towels into his underwear and told him to go to bed, the affidavit stated.
Later, when the boy’s father, a U. S. Army Specialist came home, he found the child crying and in pain in an upstairs bedroom of their home on Joint Base San Antonio Fort Sam Houston.
The affidavit stated that he rushed his son to San Antonio Military Medical Center, where the child underwent surgery.
An arrest warrant was issued for Vargas on Wednesday and she was taken into custody.
She is charged with assault within maritime and territorial jurisdiction resulting in serious bodily injury.
A mugshot for Vargas was not immediately available.
