Drivers using Highway 281 North in the Nakoma and Bitters area will be forced to deal with more delays as road construction takes another turn.
The northbound-to-southbound turnaround lane at Nakoma will be closed for six months.
“It’s going to mess up traffic so bad," said driver Jose de los Santos. "It’s going to make it a nightmare."
That reflected the sentiments of many drives, but it is part of the process needed to complete Wurzbach Parkway.
“What that is going to do is move that Wurzbach Parkway exit into place and then rebuild the structures of the turnaround bridge,” said Texas Department of Transportation spokesman Josh Donat.
The current Bitters exit becomes the Wurzbach Parkway exit.
The Bitters exit moves a little North.
“It’s going to be what we call a braided ramp where the exit ramp will bridge over the top of the entrance ramp,” Donat said.
Despite the inconvenience the project is on schedule to be completed in early 2015.
