SAN ANTONIO -

A motel guest identified as Gerald Gibson is accused of pulling off a robbery at the Northwest Side motel where he lived.

Gibson was arrested Tuesday and booked into the Bexar County Jail with bond set at $75,000.

An arrest warrant affidavit stated that officers responded to the Budget Suites of America in the 7800 block of Fredericksburg Road May 26 for a report of a robbery.

Detectives said two front desk clerks told them a man and woman had pointed guns at them and demanded cash.

The affidavit stated that the woman walked into the motel lobby, at first inquiring about a room.

It stated that she left after finding out there were no vacancies, then immediately walked back in with a mask over her face and a gun in her hand.

A man wearing a long wig and also carrying a gun stood in the doorway while the woman took bags of money from the safe, the affidavit stated.

The clerks told police they were later ordered into a bathroom while the suspects took off.

The affidavit stated that one of the clerks told investigators he immediately recognized the man in the wig as Gibson, a guest of the motel.

He told police he was “100 percent sure” that the robber was Gibson, the affidavit stated.

Police said the clerk also provided them with a copy of Gibson’s New York state ID card, which the motel had on file.

Investigators are still working to identify the woman robber, the affidavit stated.
