Bibles filled with knives, drugs mailed to prison
Authorities say woman who mailed hollow bibles arrested, charged
Corrections officials in South Carolina are investigating after a pair of Bibles mailed to a prison were filled with a little more than prayers.
Deputies at the Lieber Correctional Institution in Ridgeville, S.C., said 28-year-old Shareca Latoya Jones, of Kershaw, tried to smuggle weapons, drugs and a cell phone to a prison inmate in two hollowed-out Bibles, The Herald reported.
According to publication, investigators said the Bibles -- containing razor knives, a cell phone, Ecstasy pills and 28 grams of cocaine -- were mailed by Jones to the prison, but were returned to an area business earlier this month.
Authorities told the newspaper that Jones was later stopped by officers and arrested on drug and weapons charges.
